If not…you should! There are an ever increasing number of “hackers” on the internet these days; Warriors who find it funny to take down websites that are either outdated or have a loophole in something running on their website. This could be a plugin of some sort, or a simple contact form, but there are plenty of opportunities for them to get into your website.

Regardless of the software running your website, whether this is WordPress or Joomla, we recommend weekly backups so that if the worst were to happen, you will have something to fall back to..

There are various ways to do this, some web hosts have daily backups of your systems themselves, however we still recommend backing up your website yourself and keeping a local copy on your own computer.

Joomla offers a neat backup plugin called Akeeba; whilst WordPress offers a plugin that is similar called Duplicator. Installing either of these and making regular backups is a great idea to ensure your site stays consistent. Remember to download them once the backups are made!

We also recommend updating to the latest version of any software running on your website, but do be careful to check the compatibility of any installed plugins before you update so that you can confirm your site will still function correctly after you update.

If you are not sure on any of this, we offer maintenance packages where we can manage your website taking care of all of the above for you, which can even include uploading of new content for you.
